1. Match your metals
Depending on the colour of your dress, some metals look better than others. Ivory is usually best paired with gold while a pure white dress is best paired with silver, platinum or pearl detailing.
2. Less is more
Stay classy. You don't need a veil, tiara, earrings, necklace and a sash together at once. If your dress has an ornate neckline, skip the necklace and opt for a bold statement earring. For a simple gown, then try a bold statement necklace.
3. Hair up or down
If you are leaving your hair down, a pair of small studs or drop studs will do. But for an updo, go all out with a pair of chandelier earrings.
4. Veil veil veil
Your veil should be in the exact shade of your gown and stick to something simple if your dress is dramatic. If you'd like to show off the gorgeous embroidery or beading on your dress, go with a sheer veil rather than a thick layer of tulle. The length of your veil will not only depend on your venue but your frame.
5. Top if off!
An alternative to the more traditional veils, try on a tiaras, hairclips, fascinators or flower crowns. OR be bold and wear them together! Before settling on one, consider your hair type but more importantly pick something that represents your style.
6. Always be comfortable
Of course you would want to look like a million dollars on your special day, but don't forget, you will be standing for long periods of time. Don't end up cringing in pain before the day is over. When buying shoes, for example, consider the heel, type of straps and material because your feet needs to be well supported and comfortable until the last dance of the night!
7. Be open-minded but be yourself
Although it is a once in a lifetime event, don't stray too far from your normal style. But, when trying accessories, try to be open minded. Most brides are surprised to find what really suits them as opposed to what they originally had in mind. The goal is to look like the best most beautiful version of your regular self.
